Your Prescriber

When I had the tv on last night, one of the hundred fifty billion medicine commercials came on and talked about how wonderful it is. But when it came to the part where they say to ask your doctor if it's right for you....they didn't say it. Do you know what they said? "Ask your prescriber". Wait...what? What the hell is a prescriber? Since when did doctors turn into mere pill dispensers?! It's a sign of the times I tell you. Something tells me that most people don't spend all that time and money in med school just to become a fucking prescriber. Fuck you pharmaceuticals companies! You can your damn drugs that you make up for shit that doesn't exist. Stuff you make people think they NEEEEEEEEEEEED. Bullshit. So much bullshit. Ugh.

*uses "my ass is a chicken" icon* XD

Yeah, that's retarded. Pill prescriptions are a big deal in psychiatry/psychology too. A lot of people believe in it, others don't. I’m sure a lot of it has to do with insurance companies. They rather pay for a some pills than years of therapy. I’m sure it’s similar in the medical world. There's also a lot of fighting that goes into releasing new drugs, especially the iffy kind like the PMS drugs that everyone says women sooooo need. >.>

actually, it's because doctors are not the only people who are legally allowed to prescribe meds... a nurse practitioner may also prescribe meds, and he or she is not actually a doctor...

because free clinics are often staffed mostly by NPs the change makes SOME sense to use a catchall term...

but the rest of the post is right on :P
