Crop Job

I was just in a community and someone had posted their icons with a note that "textless icons are not bases". You know what I have to say to that? Bases are not textless icons! ZOMG What?! Yeah, if you took a screenshot and cropped an image down to 100x100, it's not an icon. It's just a base. With no border, no text, no personalization, it's just a 100x100 picture, but I don't really think it's an icon just because you cropped it. I know everyone's thoughts on this stuff is different. It's like going "What is art?" except it's "What is an icon?" To me, an icon is something you took a little time on that expresses your personality in some way, be it through how you tweaked it to what you wrote on it. If you didn't make it, your choice of icons still says something about you. Ah well, I guess I'm just something of an icon elitist. But really, don't get your panties in a bunch when you make a 100x100 picture that isn't even a good focus or crop job and someone else feels the need to fix it up.

Yaoi Hotel

Just a little announcement to make if you were involved in the Yaoi Hotel back in the day. Not too long ago, Paco closed the doors of the Yaoi Hotel for good. However, the owner of the webspace that she was using just doesn't want to let the site go. Instead, she's trying to resurrect the site using the former content that she doesn't have permission to use.

The board codes that were originally gifted to Paco by Chingirl are up and in use despite the change of ownership. (If you remember back even farther, these are the board codes Chingirl created and used for Hujoshi Paradise.) Also, some of the content remains on those boards. Fics and art that were hosted on the original are still found there despite Paco having attempted to delete most of this content. What remains is mostly what the Yaoi Hotel was known best for, it's Dragonball Z content.

You can see the remains of the site here. Lists of old users and some of the content remains in the archives. Other fics and art remain up on the boards. If you don't want this content to remain there, I suggest you contact the domain owner Felix.

You might want to pass this around to other former Yaoi Hotel members and DBZ fans as a heads up. Personally, I think it's tacky to resurrect someone else's site with content you don't have permission to use. But hey, that's just me.
