I'm not freaking out and abandoning ship, but this big lj debacle reminded me that I haven't secured my username over on Greatest Journal. I have my icon journal mirrored over there. I have my fic journal. I have a journal I never used, but I don't have this name specifically. So I went over and made it. Forchancookie on GJ is now open. Whether or not it gets used again, well, that remains to be seen. I did have fun customizing it though. It reminded me of some of the neat features that GJ has that LJ doesn't. 1000 free icons for basic users for starters. An active photo trade. Free voice posts. If you're seriously considering moving, check them out.

Also, Journal Fen is an alternative. It's an 18+ journal site and it's fun by actual fannish people. Slashers at that. Free registration is currently closed, but you can sign up for a paid account and there is word that with all the renewed traffic/interest (JF's traffic has nearly tripled due to this incident) that some spiffy upgrades are going to be made. They're also looking to import some fannish communities not of the wank nature, so if you were thinking of setting up a fan community, might wanna look into it.

Personally, I'm gonna sit around and see what happens. Everyone should run on over and join fandom_counts to be counted. And just a friendly reminder, while the squeaky wheel may get the oil, it's not an excuse to forget your manners and bathe in the blood of lj support ok XD

Thanks for the info! I snagged my name on GreatestJournal as well. Whether my journal or communities end up being hit or not, I can't bring myself to support a site that bows to vigilante outrage.
