I can't stop talking about anime. At this point, it's the only thing remotely interesting in my life. I've watched a few new things this week and here's my take on things.

Toshokan Sensou aka Library War
This one is set in a future where heavy restrictions have been set on media by the "Media Improvement Act" which is basically a fancy name for a censorship law. Squads of armed guards go in and shut down bookstores, arrest anyone creating revolutionary media, and beat the snot out of people. Opposing them is the Library Corps, the last defenders of books. Into this mix we have Kasahara Iku, who was once saved by a Library Corps member and is now determined to follow in his footsteps. Standing in the way of her dream (or perhaps supporting it in his own clumsy way) is her superior, Doujou Atsushi. I think he resembles Roy Mustang from FMA. He's got the short thing going for him XD But his personality is more firy. Anyway, This episode sets us down in the world and provides us with some background info and character insight. It provides a lot of human elements but promises plenty of action later on. This one just got bumped up on my must watch list. ^_^

Amatsuki
Amatsuki is about a boy who somehow gets sucked into another world after visiting a museum's virtual reality history exhibit. He gets attacked by a monster and has the vision from his left eye stolen. Luckily, he's saved by a chick with a sword who wears her super long hair as a scarf. He meets up with a fellow classmate who's been in the new world for two years, even though they had entered the exhibit together. There's something supernatural at work and their new female companion has a few secrets as well. You can tell that there's going to be an adventure and some growing up before/if these boys ever get home. While the eyes in this series kind of creep me out, the story and the characters seem pretty fun so I'm sold on this one.

Monochrome Factor
I've watched the first two episodes and it's pretty forgettable if it weren't for the boy kisses. And I hear that those aren't even native to the manga, so someone just made that up for viewers. I guess the only way to draw people in is with cheap tricks. It's got your standard shounen save the world type plot with unclear reasons for monsters attacking. Even with a few smooches, I really don't feel it's worth following. Also, I hate shadows guy's gay pink lipstick. It's an unflattering shade for such pale skin. =P

Kamen no Maid Guy 2 and 3
Ep 2 is a total fan service episode from start to finish. It's all about how breast size is proportional to math scores and has gratuitous titty groping. If you can put up with all the boobs and the jabs at boob size and math scores, it's pretty funny. I'm having trouble deciding my favorite part. Was it the part where Maid Guy hooks up his brain to a printer (and later his charge) via a USB cable? Or maybe the part where Naeka's boobs bust out of a steel chest plate and blow up her classroom. Once again, Kamen no Maid Guy delivers some wacky crack.

Ep 3 continues the service with a dollop of yuri. There's love letters, confessions, bento cooking lessons and love crazy megane school girls.

Soul Eater 2
This episode introduces the second pair of central characters. We meet Black Star and his weapon Tsubaki. Black Star is like Naruto failed. What I mean is, he's loud, obnoxious, and you hate him within like five seconds. They were totally going for the lovable goof and they missed by about three miles! He's more interested in making a scene and completely laughs off the fact that he fucks up everything he tries. Because he's "big"! Then they get to that touchy feely "look I'm not a loser after all watch me redeem myself" scene and they botch that too. Usually, they'd add in something endearing right? Wrong, he continues along down the big headed road with a shallow reason for his sudden competence. That being, nobody is allowed to outshine him. It's an ironic contrast to the norm, but it just doesn't work. The character did not feel redeemed in any way and I still did not feel endeared to him at all. I'm sure that later on they'll give him some deep back story to explain why he feels the need to make it big but I already don't care. Do not want! I want Maka and Soul back. Next week we meet the third set of central characters who is apparently Death's son and his two female handguns which he uses upside down. Oh yeah, he promises to be anal. Not that way perv. XD

Bus Gamer 3
Finally! It's the end! Honestly, I don't even know why they made this into an anime. The only reason that I can come up with is that it's a Kazuya Minekura title. That said, the manga is 1 volume. The anime is 3 episodes. I don't see how we got any sort of sensicle store out of that. It was wasted effort pure and simple. Short though it was, I feel that I wasted a snip of my life on it.

Special A 3
Ok, this one was better than the last one. As per the bet she made in the last episode, Hikaru must now do something for jerkface. He asks her to make him a bento. Only one problem. She can't cook. Her freakish muscled have her turning rice into paste as she attempts to wash the rice. Instead of making simple rice balls, she makes, what appear to be glass cannon balls. Her stubborn determination gets a bit annoying and I could care less for lover boy's reminiscing, but it's a far better episode than last week's.

I have the first episode of Junjou Romantica downloaded, but since I didn't care for what I'd read of the manga, I'm stalling. Instead I settled down to zip through Patalliro Saiyuki which is a very silly take on the Journey West. I mean, that story's been done a million times already and it's even been done with some questionable boy lovishness, but this one's boy lovin is overt. Within the first few episodes, pretty blond bishounen Sanzo has been...ahem... deflowered by Bantou, the "Bishounen Killer" (or manwhore to be more accurate). Goku is fond of word play. Hakkai was a pig, but now he's just a horndog. And Sagoyjo, well, he's old XD Either way, this is a fun little anime. All the episodes are less then ten minutes long and there's 26 of them. You can march along at a quick pace, especially when you skip the minute long opening and ending songs. Too bad it ends rather abruptly.

Patarillo Saiyuki is not just another Journey West remake for the heck of it. It's actually a spinoff of Patalliro, cast with Patalliro characters. So far, I've only watched the first episode of Patalliro, but it was fun. However, I'm not sure how much is subbed. I have a feeling that I won't be able to find all 49 episodes and it's not licensed =/ Ah well, beggars can't be choosers.

And, I think I'm gonna drop now. x_x But don't worry! There's plenty more anime for me to natter on about later!
